Replica of the 1908 « High Society » carriage – Märklin

Three renowned manufacturers – Hutschenreuther, Heidi Ott and Märklin – participated in this remarkable project: a replica of a stately carriage from the 1908 Märklin catalogue. The tooling and the models for the horses and dolls were recreated from the originals. Each reconstructed element becomes an original in its own right, with particular value for collectors and enthusiasts of fine models.

The dolls were designed and made by Heidi Ott. Delicately coloured faces, richly reproduced clothing and handmade wigs enhance their majestic appearance.

The craftsmanship is evident in every detail. The folding hood is made from finely lined leather. The seat is upholstered in hand-worked silk. The harness is made from felt-lined leather and assembled with brass fittings.

This richly detailed model is made from thin, moulded, pretreated, painted and patinated sheet metal, then decorated with gold-plated brass accessories.

Newly modelled, graceful and depicted in a dynamic trot, the horses were created with care and passion by Hutschenreuther, the celebrated manufacturer of bisque porcelain.

The same materials as the original model were used: sheet metal, brass, wood, silk, leather, felt and nickel-plated wire. Applied elements in cast and gold-plated brass.
