Freddie - Pushking

The Russian rock band Pushking from St. Petersburg released the distinctive rock suite “Freddie”. Strongly influenced by Queen, the album includes a colourful 32-page booklet and is dedicated to the memory of the great Freddie Mercury.

The idea for “Freddie” was born in 1997, on a rainy day as Konstantin (Koha) Shustarev was walking home on Basil Island. The sky suddenly brightened and he felt struck by a burst of cosmic inspiration. A melody formed in his mind and later became the basis of the rock suite. Koha knew that a new project had been born and that it would be dedicated to Freddie Mercury. The idea stayed with him for the next ten years.

In 2000, a demo version of the suite was presented to several Moscow music companies to seek financial support, continue the recording and bring the project to the Russian music market. “Freddie” was finally completed and released in 2007.
