Description

Freddie Mercury, born Farrokh Bulsara on the African island of Zanzibar, became one of the greatest rock artists of our time. During his twenty-year career as Queen’s lead singer, the band sold more than 150 million albums worldwide. A visionary and extraordinary musician, he left an invaluable legacy and had an immense influence on future generations of rock artists. Thanks to the Mountain Studios, acquired by Queen in 1978, Freddie maintained a very close relationship with Montreux until his death. He valued the kindness and discretion of its residents, considered Montreux his adopted home and found it an ideal haven in which to create his final works.

Five years after his death, a 3-metre-high statue was unveiled in Montreux by Montserrat Caballé and his mother, Jer Bulsara. It was sculpted by Czech artist Irena Sedlecka. We guarantee that this 1/14-scale statuette is a faithful reproduction of the original. Sold exclusively by Queenonline and at the «Bazar Suisse» store in Montreux, this carefully moulded epoxy-resin sculpture has considerable collectable value. It stands 21cm high.

Part of the proceeds from this sale is donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust in England, which fights Aids worldwide.
